Believe it or not, when I am on the phone with a northern German I´ve to concentrate very hard to understand him/her (and vice versa), even when he is speaking standard German!? Every nation has it`s idiosyncrasies with speaking a foreign language, that`s very true - what I mean is the overdoing of dubbing voices, as if we, the audience, were otherwise too dumb to recognize the foreigner.
