Just bought an E-Bike

Got it through the cycle to work scheme at work. £87 a month for 12 months then work pays the rest and the bikes mine after 12 months.
Got a £300 voucher to buy accessories too.
I've only ever tried the pay by the ride e-bikes in London that are really fucking heavy and clunky. I'm looking forward to giving this a go but i'm still pretty sceptical about them.
Anyone tried one of these or got something similar?

I don't think I'd buy it if I lived in a big city. I live on the coast and the ninja's round here are nothing compared to Liverpool/London.

Cycled for years & had various road bikes. Couple of years ago I got a bit bored of the same old endlessly pounding along on roads & bought a gravel bike. Looks just like a road bike, but comfy frame to sit in & larger, grippy tyres giving my a change to be able to cycle along paths & a little bit of off road.

My mates got into mountain biking & bought these massive clunky, chunky e-bikes [And I immediately christened them e-bike wankers!]. I had a go a few times was impressed with the rides they did. The chose ridges along hills which would be impossible to cycle, or even walk up, & went along them. Great fun, with great views you'll never see on a 'normal' bike. But I feared them as they are so heavy.

Last year I turned 60, so I wanted to treat myself to a new road bike. After a lot of research I bought I Scott Addict eride road e-bike - & its changed the way I cycle & think about cycling. Yes, I get the 'you're fooking cheating' calls; but I point out that I'm over 60, waiting for a hip replacement but still riding. I live in North Wales [not the really hilly bit] & use the assist when I face a head wind or can't be arsed going up a particular nasty climb. Like a poster pointed out below, you only use assist when you need it & it cuts out over 15mph anyway. Enjoy.

Bike would look nice with a basket on the front!

I use my bikes for exercise and pleasure but I’d be interested in hearing a full review once you’ve had it a while please.

I do a 23 mile loop from my house twice a week that I simply wouldn't be able to do without pedal assist. My heartrate is up for the duration and I need a shower when I get home. So it's definitely good exercise for this 58yo fatarse. I absolutely love it.

Cyclists in general are still ignorant wankers though.

Use the voucher for a good lock like a lite lock or hip lock, both are which are angle grinder resistant, cos a bike that nice will be a target for the scum who think nothing of nicking bikes

I added a theft insurance on because I thought that too. £149 for the year for the built in theft detection, theft alerts, tracking and full bike value cover. I thought that was well worth it.

Yeh deffo. It is a stunning looking bike. I was considering it myself a couple of years ago but ended up getting a volt one as I convinced myself I needed a front suspension fork. Regret it as the volt weighs abouy 20kgs which is a pain when going up and downstairs at trainstations

Got an electric mountain bike.

Rarely use the motor, just to assist against strong wind or hills which I normally wouldn't bother with.

normal peddle bike for me. Unless you have physical issues they're much better once you get up to speed (no pun intended)

I cycle a lot and I have a CUBE Hybrid but I got this to add to that rather than replace it. My daughter is 6 now and just learned to ride her bike but she can't go long distances or anywhere on the roads etc yet so this is to get us back out together with the child seat on. Lugging a 6 year old up hills as a 50 year old is just not good for my heart lid and takes the fun out of it. We've got miles and miles of coastal paths here and I reckon I could pack us a tent on this too for some adventures.

fair enough, enjoy.

I broke mine in slowly on their bikes when they were younger stayed around the park and the old railway line, getting them anywhere near roads was a big no.

If you've got coastal paths you're lucky. How big is the bike to get a child and tent on!
