DCL and Doucure

Already about 500m down on what they would have got if they had stayed. Both going to struggle to get anywhere near what they think they are worth.

Just realised how I came to put 500m and not 500k in the original post. I do live in Spain and that is how we write half a million in Spanish.

Someone posted last week that for some unfathomable reason its accepted practice in the Premier League to pay a player one more extra month's wages when their contract expires if they haven't foud a new deal yet.

So if DCL and Doucoure's contracts expired on 30th June, they would have got another payment from Everton at the end of July too, so they are only a few days into being forced to sign on down at the DWP.

Think this is most likely but I wonder if he would dare to join the RS. They will want a cheap big man bench option if Nunez goes and see it as a low risk as could probably flog him after a year if he stays fit and scores a few in their easy European games. DCL seems to think he's champions league quality and demanding the type of wages only champions league teams would pay...

Their wage bill must be astronomical. Jay Rodriguez was on 25k in League One and an ITK fella at ours who got to know Lewis O'Brien last season tells me the contract he signed was for 39k plus huge incentives.

Big Yokel's through ball at Wembley was a mark of the great man. He'll do well there, no question. And will definitely be increasing his already massive goal total against the Swans.

Basically, though, they've signed him because he's 'Welsh'. Let's not pretend otherwise. If you can't produce 'em, buy 'em.

I thought he would be much better than he was. In fairness he played a big part in getting us to Wembley but in general a downgrade on McBurnie, whom I would love to have had back but apparently the lure of Hull and their transfer embargo was more appealing!

McBurnie's wage demands also too rich for our blood this summer. We need an out-and-out goalscorer, really, and he definitely isn't that any more so cash probably better used elsewhere as far as I'm concerned.

As to the appeal of Hull, I guess it's 'where's close enough to Leeds that I can get launched there every weekend and still make training on Monday'.

DCL will be lucky to get anything other than a 'pay as you play', with his injury record.
Doucoure will end up having to accept a worse deal than we offered. Probably at one of the promoted teams.

Sounds stupid, but with him being a free he can demand silly wages.

From Leeds perspective they could pick up a nomark Championship forward for 25m and pay him 50k a week for 4 years and it would still cost them more than paying DCL 150k/week for 4 years.

Kind of said the same to someone last week about DCL.
He's made good money off us so he's not strapped for cash. Top Premier League teams wouldn't want him and lower teams won't want to pay his wages. Realistically he's not going to be rolling in trophies or accolades either now.
If I were him I'd be looking for a club on the continent which is also a really nice place to live and enjoy life as the playing career winds down.
