Gout.

Been suffering with it for 11 months. Seen a rheumatoid arthritis consultant and he upped the allopurinol dose from 400mg to 800mg per day. Thing is allopurinol always brings a new attack in a diffrent joint. He has also upped the colchicine to 500 micrograms to be taken with the allopurinol twice a day. I don't know whether to take the allopurinol for fear of it bringing another episode on.

I started on 100mg years ago, but kept getting flare ups. Moved house & went to new GP & they upped my dose to 300mg & I've not had an attack in 9 years now! Wonderful stuff - although I have a mate that his dose made him ill & had to stop & find an alternative.

I suffered for about three years, with an episode every couple of months it was an absolute nightmare.

I haven’t had one for 18 months now and I put that wholly down to taking a three month break from alcohol and then when I returned to it not having more than 15 units a week, 5 units max a day. Also cut right down on red meat ( twice a week Max) and tinned fish.

I think you can get over it with changes to diet if that’s the cause if the joint isn’t too badly damaged. There are medications and stuff that cause it as well but don’t know anything about those.

Try cider apple vinegar.
Capful diluted with anything to try and make it taste better....nothing does btw..just gotta shot it down!

Definitely helps me anyway, although I'm on Allopurinol too - even though it makes my ears itch.

Drink a litre of water before breakfast and steer clear of anything with fructose in. I’ve stopped taking my tablets now as they were making depressed and this seems to be working.

I think I need my dosage upped, been getting attacks AOTS for months now, I'm on 300mg have been for a while.

It is mate. MPTEFC your post is giving me hope with the allopurinol now. I found a gout fb page, and that is mixed results, some say it is a wonder drug others say it the work of the devil himself.

I take 100mg and I’ve been fine with that. Get the odd slight pain in my toe but it passes. Nothing like a full attack.

I was told when I started I would likely get one last attack. I did and in my ankle.

Might be worth putting up with that one last time if the increased dose then works.

I'm MPTEFC I'll park where I like.
