Dickhead here hadn't realised you could get them on general sale and now they're all gone. If anyone, at any point, has 2 they want to offload then let me know.

Because it is the first time the first team will play at the new stadium and is a semi-competitive game against a big European team.

I couldn't believe many posters claimed it wouldn't sell out and the ticket price was too high (£25-£30). I genuinely think we could have sold double the tickets for this one!

Of course it’s a semi-competitive game - a competitive match would be a league or cup fixture (and this isn’t one of those), but it’s not just a kickabout in the park with their mates either. When the players play, they’ll want to win – both sides. There’ll be tactical instructions and match preparation from the coaching staff.

It’s the first first-team game at the new stadium. All of that makes it semi-competitive (as well as a friendly).

I’m not going, mind - I’m away. But that doesn’t change the nature of it.

It's a friendly mate. Semi competitive would suggest an element of competition but no focus on actually winning. There is no competition. It's gonna be 44 lads having a kickabout.

Top pedantry this even if I do say so myself.

The fact it's the last game before the season kicks off just 7 days later means there will deffo be a competitive nature to it. Maybe not full pelt, but definitely putting a bit of a shift in. It's the early pre-season games that are best jibbed in my experience unless it's just for a bit of a day out somewhere different.

Friendlies are crap though and we didn't sell out at Goodison last season against the same opponents. 25k have already seen the new ground and so mildly surprised it sold out so quickly.
