Of course it’s a semi-competitive game - a competitive match would be a league or cup fixture (and this isn’t one of those), but it’s not just a kickabout in the park with their mates either. When the players play, they’ll want to win – both sides. There’ll be tactical instructions and match preparation from the coaching staff.

It’s the first first-team game at the new stadium. All of that makes it semi-competitive (as well as a friendly).
