Can anyone offer any advice? My lad has been working as a TA in a primary school in Liverpool for the last four years. He loves it and appears to have a real aptitude for it. But of course the money is nowhere near good enough. He wants to try and become a primary school teacher and was told by the headmaster that he could achieve that over a few years from being a TA. However after a talk with the head yesterday he told my lad not to bother, all teachers hate their jobs and it would cost him near £40k in fees. I was livid as it sounded as though he was doing all he could to put him off. I suspect they want to keep him in what he's doing as its very cheap for them and they dont want to be paying out fees etc.
Does anyone know if he can progress for a TA to teacher without having to go to uni full time. Or if there would be another route he could go down with good career prospects, decent money etc in maybe the mentoring or counselling side? Cheers Lids
