My dad served 9 years in the Royal Navy. He spent 2 years stationed in Hong Kong.

His dad, my grandad, was also in the Navy during WWII in the North Atlantic, and was sunk twice. Both times he was taken to the US and spent a few months convalescing before sailing back into the U boats target practice.
