Brilliant to hear about the 2 positive experiences yu had though. I'm a massive fan of the NHS and it restores my faith after what my mother in law went through in her last few weeks in Fazakerley (absolutely nothing to do with the staff, who were brilliant).

Re the tooth, you've touched very lucky there. I got an abscess and infection about 4 months ago on a wisdom tooth that hasn't fully come through and phoned my dentist first thing to be told there was not even an emergency appointment.

I phoned that national helpline thing (0161 number), and was told because i had a dentist, and because it was not out of hours, they couldn't do anything.

I was in agony so ended up going to a walk in centre, who said they couldn't do anything and basically just fucked me off.

There was a dentist next door so I just popped in desperate and luckily luckily receptionist was sound and looked and said it was an infection and although they couldn't do anything I needed to phone or go to my dentist and tell them they had a duty of care to see me.

Long story short I went in and got seen and was prescribed antibiotics to clear the infection and they gave me an appointment to come back for an xray, nearest available one was 4 months later haha. That was actually yesterday so I went, got x rays, dentist said I need it taken out and referred me to aintree to get it done, and the girl on reception then told me it will take about 2 years hahaha.

So you defo done well re the dental treatment.
