It was quite a common sight to see him arrive at Goodison, in his Chauffeur driven Rolls Royce,JM1,
He ,whilst a conservative,was something of a philanthropist too, friends with Bessie Braddock too according to my Dad.
I used to see him quite regularly and bizarrely on the now defunct S2 bus,in the late 70s,at the time I had a Girlfriend in Formby and JM lived in Freshfields,I used to get on the bus in Thornton and he was each time already on board, similarly on the return journey,he would already be on board and still be when I got off in Thornton. Always wearing his signature Crombie overcoat.Always sat downstairs, presumably a non smoker.
