Hello, I am doing some family history research for a friend and have discovered the following information about one of his ancestors:
Mary Beadle b.28/12/1807 c.17/1/1807, Christ Church, Tynemouth, 1st daughter of John Beadle, Royal Cornwall Regiment of Militia, and Mary Walling John and Mary married on 28/4/1805 at St George, East Stonehouse, Devon
From research I have discovered that the reigment had two battalions, one of which went to the Battle of Copenhagen, 1807.
My questions are these: how do I discover anything more about which battalion John was in? If he came back? Why were he and his pregnant wife in Tynemouth?
Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you, Eli

The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Museum holds militia records. Address The Keep,The Barracks, Bodmin,England,PL31 1EG. Tel:01208 72810. Email info@cornwalls-regimentalmuseum.org Small amount of records held by Kresen Kernow (main Cornwall records). Tel:01872 324333. None appear to be online but both will do look ups for a fee I think.
