A name or a latin phrase?

I have found two parish marriage entries - one 1806 the other 1833, both in Dawlish. Where, in the presence of, is puzzling me. |
The 1806 marriage is between Thomas Wood and Sarah Bellet (7th Apr 1806)In the presence of 'mark of John Berry' and what looks like "Non Hexter"
The 1833 marriage is between James Bulley and Sarah Wood (15th Jul 1833) In the presence of John Bulley and what looks like "Nom Heyter"
My question is, is 'Nom/Non Hexter/Heyter a name of a person or is it a Latin phrase?
I've tried googling it, but have found nothing.
Thank you in advance.
