According to newspaper reports in 1862, he went to court over someone who he said was drunk and abusive towards him.

It looks like he fabricated the evidence (witnesses including his own sergeant sided with the accused).

It doesn't mention what happened to him, but I would suspect that he left the police, and probably the area, after that.

Perhaps he emigrated?
