Re: William Shepherd of Sherford and Charleton, Devon
Hi Judith, thanks a lot for all you research and your time spent on this. Great. Sorry for being so late to thank you. The one I think is “my” William Shepherd (bapt. 5May 1766 in Sherford) was married in Charleton 20 May 1791 to Mary Camp (bapt.4 March 1764). Their daughter Maria Shepherd was baptized in Charleton, 5 February 1792 and she died in Norway in 1867. She was my 2xgreat grandmother. I assume that William continued to live in East Charleton. Maria married Simon Andrews, Andreassen, a Norwegian, 12 May 1813 in Charleton and she is registered from East Charleton. Simon was Norwegian and he was on a boat brought to Plymouth during the Napoleonic war. He was 14 years at the time. The couple had 3 children, the oldest Simon baptized in Charleton 1814, the other two in Plymstock Mary Ann in 1817 and Sophia Maria in 1819. This family moved to Norway 1821. Again thanks a lot, Miriam
