I have an ancestor who apparently died in the Plymouth Workhouse , aged 55 in 1834. He had previously been well-employed by HM Customs, and had a big family, so presumably met with some calamity, illness or injury.
Are there records of workhouse admissions, with the reason a person might be admitted?
