I had expected it to be a surname of a grandparent, but you may need to go back another generation. My mother in law had the full name of her great grandmother as part of her christian name, she hated it! but it was a great help in family history research when there were two people with same christian name who could have been her great grandmother!! we were able to pick the one with the surname too.
