Yes I understand. My great grandmother was in and out of the workhouse in 1881, luckily my grandfather not born there too. He was illigit, much to my fathers horror when he found out after grandfather had died. Its all changed now, no stigma etc and much more help, which is completely different to the attitudes of those days.
found a Henry Nott aged 8 with a Thomas and Elizabeth and a Richard also 8 and Harriett 5 in South Brent 1841 with possible grandparents Thomas 75 and Ann75. Would be worth checking that out in case young Henry had been looked after by them.
