Found the details re apprenticeship on Ancestry, Think John Fortescue is a vicar, so perhaps a curate had an apprenticeship? clerk in holy orders?
The F of Fatherleigh is a bit weird could be a dodgy H.
If he married in 1716 then an apprenticeship 1711-12 is only 4 years before, does that make sense? do we know when he died/ age at death?
