John Boyce has always been a puzzle - I've tried alternative spellings Boyes, Boys etc but have never found anything even a little convincing!
He could read and write and always appeared to work on the land, alternating between Furzedown Farm and Collaton (both Malborough parish). In 1891 at Shute Farm just below Lower Town. He wrote a will but there was only a few pounds in it, hardly seems worth the cost.
