Deborah, not sure I ever sent to thank you. BINGO after a couple of decades. John Boyce and John Masters are the same chap. I found a baptism 7 July 1822 at Kingsbridge for illegitimate child John Boyce, s/o Anne Masters. On his marriage certificate he said his father was named John Boyce (no surprise there!) Now I have John Boyce senior baptised Charlton 4 May 1794, son of Robert Boyse and Jenny (nee Phillips). Other base born children on my tree have youngish parents, where the father too immature to stay around. On this occasion John Boyce senior was already married and father to 2 others, that were baptised Stoke Fleming. Whether his wife new or not who can ever guess but 9 more children were born within the marriage including John Mortimore Boyce mentioned in the discussion above. Again, many, many thanks for crashing down my brick wall!
