Depends on your timeframe...if you’re looking at a single 90 day window for example, the additives available can be used to ‘enhance’ change. But take those additives away and go back to a so-called basic ration and it won’t take long for the animal to change right back. (Basically the effect that we’ve all seen after watching an animal melt once going off paylean - nothing against the product it can make a good hog look great, it just isn’t a forever change). Genetics are the only true way to drive long term change. The irony is that we do all have access to any boar we want but, in many cases, we all use the same stuff. So while we’re all attempting to create an animal that will be a genetic changer, it will only get harder and harder (over the long term) when the pool continues to shrink and everyone is basically holding the same recipe card.
