ABRockNJock is correct, depending on your antenna setup, it can be the snowfall.

I recently had to rescan my box. It happens occasionally they shift frequencies, some go dark, some come live w/o any announcement.

I also have Comcast (ack) but they carry most of the OTA sub channels, so it gives an idea when some new channels appear.
