WLS in the 80s was shell of what it was in the 60s and 70s. Their Classic Rock, AOR40 approach post Disco, in hindsight, was a bad decision. They survived longer than WABC but at a cost. Ignoring Urban hits, listing tracks on paper and not spinning them. Brining in Steve & Gary. FM came along and (96 Now - Hot Hits B96) cleaned their clocks out in turn, made it harder for WLS-FM/Z95 to be taken seriously, at least initially.
