When I was younger, I could not understand why people loved Larry. He was not a puker, screamer or anything everyone else was on a contemporary hit music station or any form of that format. I liked him but he was not my idol. Now that I am older, listening to his masterful selection and manipulation of words to elicit thoughts and comedy, without being outright or vile about it. Nothing short of genius.

WLS in the 80s was shell of what it was in the 60s and 70s. Their Classic Rock, AOR40 approach post Disco, in hindsight, was a bad decision. They survived longer than WABC but at a cost. Ignoring Urban hits, listing tracks on paper and not spinning them. Brining in Steve & Gary. FM came along and (96 Now - Hot Hits B96) cleaned their clocks out in turn, made it harder for WLS-FM/Z95 to be taken seriously, at least initially.
