I used to work in the accounting department at Chicago Messenger Service. That was 20 years ago, mind you. Based on what I remember, one of my supervisors had a radio in his office and we'd listen to whatever was playing on the overhead speakers...As long as it was music heavy.

Based on what I remember, the radio landscape in Chicago was different than it is now. The old CD 94.7 & 97.9 The Loop provided Classic Rock, while the old 95.5 was "Smooth Jazz" and 93.9 was branded as "Lite FM".

That said, I think because formats tend to change as often as we change our socks, I wonder if many offices have dumped terrestrial radio in favor of either satellite or music by way of the app, whether it's iHeart, TuneIn or a different provider.

I was listening to the iHeart app yesterday and was listening to a custom-made station that I handpicked, featuring bands, artists & songs that I chose. Hope that helps.
