I'm researching alternatives to Akeneo for a product data management project and would be interested in hearing from people who have actually evaluated or implemented PIM platforms.

The requirements are fairly typical:

* Large product catalog
* Multiple languages/locales
* Product attributes and variants
* Supplier data imports
* Product enrichment
* Multiple eCommerce/marketplace channels
* API/integration requirements
* Ability to self-host

Akeneo is obviously one of the established options, but I'm also seeing more interest in open-source alternatives such as UnoPim.

What I'm particularly interested in is the practical side:

1. How difficult was the implementation?
2. How much customization was required?
3. What did the total cost of ownership look like?
4. How easy was it for non-technical teams to manage?
5. Has anyone actually moved from Akeneo to another PIM?

Would appreciate experiences from anyone who has been through the evaluation process.
