My last H&T prior to that had been at a different shop just before the second lockdown. Since I had an errand only a few blocks away, I decided I might as well go by the shop to see if they might possibly be open although I didn't have much hope. So I got up early this morning and made my way over there... and lo and behold they were OPEN!
It was 7:10am when I pushed open the door to the shop and luckily grabbed the last open waiting chair. Already both barbers had customers in the chair and 2 others were waiting. The third barber chair was deserted as it had been on my previous visit although these guys get more than enough traffic to run at full capacity. The upside to this backlog was that I could haircut watch for a while.
'My' barber had just done a first go-around-the-head with the clippers on an older man in his late 50s/early 60s and was now shaving his back and sides up high with a red Norelco type electric shaver. Once he was done, he fired up his Osters and ran them over the top of his head repeatedly from different angles with what looked like a #2 blade and then began to fine tune the blend with a variety of blades and different clippers. This senior was getting something akin to a classic 'fish cut' - only when the Aggie barbers peel those Texas A&M freshmen it takes all of 2 minutes at most while this gentleman sat in the chair a good 25, 30 minutes. I was looking forward to my time in the chair...
The guy in line ahead of me now hopped in the chair and explained to the barber in Spanish what he wanted (this is a full-on Latino shop and the convo is not in Ingles, amigo, and neither is the TV feed). He was quite shaggy and probably hadn't seen a barbershop in at least 3 months, maybe longer. I was expecting a taper or fade but the barber pulled out his mid size balding clipper and starting to peel off this guy's thick, jet black hair one blade width at a time. Oh yeah, this guy was getting a high and tight! Once the sides and back were free of any hair, the barber proceded to apply liberal amounts of shaving cream with a brush. He then pulled out the straight razor and began to meticulously razor shave this guy's high and tight sides. He must've spent a good 15 minutes on the process before he went to his Osters and sheared the guy's mop top down into a #2 buzzcut - save for a patch along the frontal hairline which he sculpted into an almost flattop looking mini-deck bumper with scissors. Nice! After a bit of blending work he was done and off came the cape.
My turn. After placing the neck strip and fastening the blue cape snug around my neck he asked me how I wanted my hair cut. "High and tight. Bald out the sides and back. Leave the top. I want to keep the length I have." He nodded and with that switched on his balding clipper and commenced to shave a track around my head pretty high up. After that he began to peel off the hair below the track line with one clipper, then another. When clipper blades couldn't get it any closer, he reached for his shiny red Norelco shaver. It looked brand new and I had not seen it before with his other tools. "He must be getting a lot of requests for shaved high and tights to have purchased this", I thought to myself but didn't ask. The Norelco felt great and I could feel more hair coming off as he went over my back and sides two or three times. Talk about 'down to the wood'...
He then fired up his trusty Oster 76 and began to push it past the track line all the way around the head in order to blend the smooth shaved sides with the longer hair on top. He also used a smaller clipper and did scissor-over-comb detail work buzzing and snipping away. Once he was satified with the cut he began to dab shaving cream along my hairline and did the customary outline with a straight razor followed by a splash of aftershave that felt like a cool breeze. One final go around with his new electric shaving toy and out came the hand mirror to inspect the results: "Looks great - thank you!", I said. He lowered the chair and swung me around to face the big barbershop mirror for a wider look. Damn, this was short alright (and super skin tight as the hand test revealed at home!)... Just what I had in mind. And only 13 bucks (plus gratuity). That is a steal in Los Angeles, CA in the year 2020, let me tell you!

By using this, you accept all liability for your posts and their contents. BuzzLife administration and Boardhost accept no liability whatsoever by posts, ideas, opinions, links to external sources, videos, to name a few among the vast amount of content that could be contained in said posts. Therefore, you post it, whatever it may be, you’re responsible for it. Enough said.
Photos, videos, and other content posted should involve men who appear to be of age. Any link/poster that sends images, videos, etc. of those who appear to be below acceptable age will be removed. This results in an instant ban for life
This is designed for male haircutting, and males should be the subject of the haircut. Females should not be the subject of the haircut in posts, photos, and discussions, however, females are free to join and discuss our common interests.
No sexual posts allowed. No political posts allowed.
In terms of common sense, do not post replies to such videos or photos saying things like “sexy handsome man without hair” or “better ####ing shave it next time” or any other suggestive or inappropriate comments. This only does many things. It makes the user remove the video due to being “creeped out” by said comments, look to see where the user found their video (and can see terms searched, such as headshaving, male haircut, and even links from this board). It only brings out a negative view of our community and makes us more noticeable, rather than keeping it quiet. Keeping it quiet is best, it allows us to continue sharing content without people starting to think “will I get creepy people send me stuff”. To sum it up, don’t be a creep on other people’s videos. Saying you look good such as “nice haircut” is acceptable; saying “you look sexy handsome with that new haircut :-*” is unacceptable. I cannot control what you post on other websites, but please keep your true comments to yourself, or as we often see, “This video has been removed by the user” will pop up. Please use proper judgment to keep the videos posted public for all to see and enjoy.
In addition, please try to do your best to provide reference to what content is being presented. The internet is wide, I understand that. But if you are going to post a YouTube link, write a quick thing next to the link (moptop shorn) or reference where you got an image from (i.e., post a link and the image) so we can see it easier if there is problem. Only goes to help us out more!
Be civil on the board. We’re all grown mature (hopefully) men. Let’s keep it mature and civil on here.
Be smart about what you post! If you use proper judgment, it will generally be fine. Just consider these rules before posting.
