During this protracted battle, we were able to catch the frank committing internet fraud by maliciously manipulating the HOA's website. I sent a sheriff's deputy to his house to arrest him and it pissed his wife off so bad that she made him sell their house and move out of the neighborhood. Good riddance!!!
Now, I need to qualify this whole thing by stating that HOAs (Home Owners' Associations) in my opinion are by and large criminal endeavors. However, our little HOA was unique, having started in the 1970's before the modern HOA era began. Because of the stucture of our organization the neighborhood covenants were unenforceable thru fines, foreclosures and other harrassment techniques employed by HOAs nationwide. The HOA Board prior to my tenure sought to amend the covenants to allow for agressive enforcement measures and the neighborhood erupted in protest.
To calm things down, I was elected president and the covenant amendment issue was abandoned. I assembled a new Board and we proceeded to operate the HOA as a benevolent neighborhood force. We put on some great community parties, got the county to put in a sidewalk along the busy street where a pedestrian had been killed, got new playground equipment for our park, put out beautiful full-color newsletters and generally worked for the betterment of our neighborhood. The frank hated all that and strove to destroy our community with his vitriol and even physical violence toward me and Meri. May he rot in the place where the goblins go - below - below!
