To each his own, I guess. I just grew weary of the song early-on in my career. There's also a political component to The Hammer Song that goes against my grain. The fact that Pete Seeger and Lee Hayes wrote the song as a rally cry for the progressive movement of the 1950's is a bit off-putting for me. Most audiences don't get the history of the song, so that goes over their heads as they bob their heads and sing along. But I'm not comfortable promoting that kind of message. I've grown quite conservative in my old age.
