OK, I blew off that steam pocket!
But now I have to laugh, because today at the Lavender Festival I actually got a request for The Hammer Song. Not only that - I PLAYED IT! Oh, what a ##### I am. But since I didn't get tipped for playing it, I guess I'm technically not a #####, just a hypocrite. Just for fun, tho, I played it Trini Lopez style (sans electric guitar).
OK - I wanted to mention this earlier and I forgot: somehow Trini Lopez is considered a folk musician, and apparently it's only because he recorded The Hammer Song. How can one song in your repertoire define you? But we never considered him to be a "folk singer" because he played electric guitar. OK, I know Dylan went electric eventually, but that also caused a temporary uproar among the folk purists. But with Trini, his act was not folk at all. It was more '60's lounge music, in my opinion.
