For me, the real issue is whether or not we are going to actually get any more carriers built beyond the Enterprise. That is a far more serious matter in my book than what we call them. At this point, there could soon well be no more carriers to name. Thus, being hung up on what they're named is comparatively trivial. However, I've been here long enough to know that the name subject is what concerns the group the most. Thus my misgivings. Greatly relieved to find the subject is so far civil. Fingers crossed it remains so.
For any of you who did find the article of interest, that was my intent with the posting.

Was browsing on a completely different subject when the article I was reading offered this link, dated just today:

Shows that, presidential directive aside, "the system" is going to continue to function as before for the time being. The actual directive has required that a 6-month study be undertaken to examine the costs, and "develop a path" to steam conversion. That will be followed by congressional debate on funding it, and probably some preliminary design work. So, nothing immediate is happening. The yard and process continue, as this shows. Obviously, how much farther this all gets remains to be seen. Still, after the recent development, I found this to be an interesting item, which I've chosen to pass along despite a few misgivings.
