OK thanks but I wish to point that Revell Germany
produced I guess in the last 6-7 years 3 new 1/72
scale 80ft Elco PT boats. They are PT-109,160,and PT 579/588. They offer choices in arament,and paint schemes.Both Revell USA and Revell Germany replaced the 1960's PT 109 kit with the new version.These kits also have interior detail of crew compartment and chart room. Which can be set up for viewing. I know old Revell reissued the old PT 109 as PT's 117 and 190 (different torpedo launchers). Last year Revell Germany discontinued the 3new kits but Revell USA continued selling the new PT-109 kit.Lastly Revell USA owned by Revell Germany
may have sold it as it calls itself Careera Revell.

Your Revell PT boat kit was engineered in the mid-1960s, so no new technology would apply.
And the style of molding a kit does not affect the surface of the plastic. Car models from Revell, Monogram, AMT, MPC, etc have been created with slide molding since way back. That is a major factor for the pronounced parting lines on the bigger parts. Previous Message

Guys for many years before to go to build a model
. I would wash the parts first because of releasing agent put into the moulds to the parts after being made.So I would have a clean surface
to paint on.
Model moulding supposedly advanced over decades with CAD and something called Side moulding. So do I still have to wash the parts? My Revell 1/72 PT-160 was made in 2022. Any one with any insight on this matter. TIA Craig
