Your Revell PT boat kit was engineered in the mid-1960s, so no new technology would apply.
And the style of molding a kit does not affect the surface of the plastic. Car models from Revell, Monogram, AMT, MPC, etc have been created with slide molding since way back. That is a major factor for the pronounced parting lines on the bigger parts.

Guys for many years before to go to build a model
. I would wash the parts first because of releasing agent put into the moulds to the parts after being made.So I would have a clean surface
to paint on.
Model moulding supposedly advanced over decades with CAD and something called Side moulding. So do I still have to wash the parts? My Revell 1/72 PT-160 was made in 2022. Any one with any insight on this matter. TIA Craig
