3D Wild is producing an 1:350 scale Lion. I have their Queen Mary but have always wanted a 1:350 HMS Lion. I have no clue as to why the Lion has been neglected until now. The spirit of David Beatty has been outraged over this omission. I purchased my copy when they ran a special sale on flagships of Jutland with a combined special of Lion and Friedrich der Grosse. I would like them to follow up with the other two flagships of the battle, Lutzow and Iron Duke. I'm currently working on a Gaga Model 1:350 Derfflinger but one drawback of that kit is the lack of torpedo nets, net shelves and net booms. Derfflinger carried them until after Jutland. They were removed during the repairs from Jutland during which the ship was also fitted with a tripod foremast. Since the Gaga Model kit has a pole foremast, it should have the net gear. Yesterday I added the shelves with Evergreen 0.38mm x 2.0mm strips, Evergreen Item No. 114, and today I added the nets with Tamiya 2.0 mm diameter metal cable, which is perfect for 1:350 nets. Tomorrow I plan on adding the net booms.

I also have the Combrig HMS Lion - yes the detail is sparse (what an understatement!). In addition to that the hull sheer is way too high (it's a common problem with most Combrig kits.) So, we as modelers are a bit out of luck if we want a truly accurate HMS Lion. Previous Message
You are setting yourself up for hours and hours of extra work. The ship did not have a pronounced "step" on the hull side for armor plate. The sides were flush. The blast screens fore and aft of Q turret (center) are approximately four feet thick---way overdone. Compared to the accurate, but sparsely detailed Combrig 1:700 scale Lion, it is a monstrosity. I would return it.
