There are so many variations to these ships that one could make an entire hobby out of just them, I think. Basically, the whole aim of the "2.0 upgrade" program is to make a number of the IIAs into "mini IIIs." They're eventually to receive smaller SPY-6 arrays and SPQ-9B along with these chipmunk cheeks. (Many already have SPQ-9B.) Which is why I so desperately wanted my Flight III. I feel no need to "chase" all these improvements to Flight IIA kits when the end result will basically be a slightly less capable III. I have a III. I'm thrilled. It was a holy grail of mine, and I've checked off that box. Eventually, they'll be putting these cheeks on the IIIs. Then, I might be interested in an upgrade, but I have this same ECM system on my DDGX. (That program is being kept alive by the Senate Armed Services Committee-the SASC--while they consider the whole Golden Fleet proposal. They refuse to cut funding for DDGX for now, and until a final decision is reached.)

While I am serenely content, I think this is great for those who do want to do the variations. If I could see past the money I'd have to invest, I am mildly tempted to launch such a project. I will carry my Michael Murphy project to conclusion, then ponder.
