
Trump claimed that the Iranian nuclear program was already destroyed in the Twelve-Day War in 2025. No war can prevent the nuclear program to re-start in the future.
A regime change is unlikely (and I think it was unlikely the goal). Maybe, Trump's attack on Venezuela explains the war the best. There, he claimed the war to be about drugs. Then about regime change. But in the end, he simply got part of the Venezuelan oil. As a believer in the future of fossil fuels, Trump probably thought that by killing some Iranian leaders, he would get some the Iranian oil.
But without really knowing the goal, it is easy to claim to have reached them and claim victory in that war...
The economic and political costs will be still there.
