As a trial purchase I ordered a SAAR-4 Attack Craft and an OPV-80 Offshore Patrol Vessel, both in 1:350 scale. They are available in other scales as well. Both come with crew figures (for scale) and separate bridge/mast/antenna pieces. The OPV comes with a Dauphin helicopter. They are whole hull with screws and props The main hulls are printed in a well-designed print matrix cage for protection during shipping. There are few, if any, noticeable print striation artifacts. There were some fine "pimples" left where the print cage was removed. They have been sanded back using a DISPIAE reciprocating sander with a narrow head and working through the grits. A nice addition si that there are holes printed in the keel to accept some rod stock for mounting to a modeler-provided base. The SAAR comes with a cradle base.
The print medium is fragile and prone to shattering unless care is exercised. There is a piece of an accommodation ladder which pinged into the next dimension when I cut a support matrix. It looks like I will need to add some PE flight deck netting from the spares supply, and some pipe rails around the after deck.
The bad: shipping was originally quoted to be 20 to 40 days. It would come FedEx International to handle import duty. Receiving the kits ended up taking 3 months. I ended up not paying additional duty as the parcel was shipped with a duty-free fine art declaration. {Shippers, stick that one in your back pocket for later use!} PayPal had refunded me the purchase price based on lack of communication with the vendor. I ended up making Ricardo @ Yacare whole for his shipping costs
I will consider buying from Yacare again, perhaps when the tariff/import duty conditions are resolved
To address LeCain's questions below:
I use fine sprue cutters/nippers to remove the print matrix. I use Squadron Black handle. God Hand or another fine nipper will do. I make the first cut at the more robust print raft end then the finer end near the part. A razor saw may be too rough
Like I mention above, I use a DISPIAE reciprocating sander with a narrow head. Start at 180 grit and work up through grits as needed.
Cement: CA glue, perhaps some expxy where strength is needed. UV cured resin/glue.
I intend to prime with Badger's 3D primer, but Tamiya or Citadel spray primers should also work
My current paint of choice is Squadron Colors acrylic
