Towed to a shallow backwater near Tulagi and left to rot. Lottsa info and a 30 odd year old photo in the destroyer section almost at bottom of this VERY informitive page on Jap warship wrecks. http://www.combinedfleet.com/atully08.htm

And if you zoom close and look very very hard what remains of her sunken wreck can still just be seen today in Halavo Bay ('near' Tulagi) on Google Earth at location 9°07'25"S 160°14'15"E

From what I found the Kikuduski of the Mutsuki class was sunk in May,1942 off Tulagi Island during the Japanese invasion of Guadalcanal and neighboring islands. Salvaged by the USS Promethesis she was raised and beached for examination and then left there. Previous Message
Was this vessel sufficiently salvaged to have a USN number attached?
