From what I found the Kikuduski of the Mutsuki class was sunk in May,1942 off Tulagi Island during the Japanese invasion of Guadalcanal and neighboring islands. Salvaged by the USS Promethesis she was raised and beached for examination and then left there.

Was this vessel sufficiently salvaged to have a USN number attached?
