I'm wondering about the sequence of applying camouflage paint to USN ships during WWII. Did they paint the sides of the hull and the superstructures first, and then paint or stain over the teak decks? I'm guessing they might have done the decks last, right before leaving the shipyard.
The reason for the question is that I'd like to build a model with one of the Measures in place on the metal surfaces, but with natural wood decking. The premise being that they had just finished the sides and were getting ready to start in on the decks. Does anyone have even one example of this?--anything from a destroyer up to a carrier would make me happy.
By the way, my model is of a design that was never built, so I am hopeful this would give me some extra latitude with this idea.
Opinions, please?
