Some years ago, I would have immediately bought the TLAR kit, but know I am not sure, if it would not be easier to convert the Gaga kit. The Gaga kit depicts the earlier fit and is also not perfect (e.g. midships the area below the forecastle deck), but the quality is better than the TLAR kit.

I have also several YMS kits by Samek, one originally bought to built Calypso... But there were also other research vessels converted from YMS...

I have not yet decided if I will built Calypso with the old bridge or as in 1972/73 (Antarctic expedition with new bridge and helicopter deck forward). For the latter, I would likely commission a new 3D printed model of the Hughes helicopter (not great in the Gaga kit).
