actually this car perfectly for 2 years and I adjusted nothing! I got 37 mpg highway and it gave me no problem. then last winter I was driving back from a trip and it started it's rough running, no power etc. that's when I disconnected the electric solenoid. I did just see though (in my shop manual) that if the solenoid is inoperative it feeds a rich mixture always, that would explain my low mileage I would say.
this week I put a non electric carb on it and fooled the computer by hooking up a mixture control solenoid and a throttle position sensor set at about medium and I took it on a 200 mile trip and it ran great and I got 35-37 mpg again!
check engine lite went out and stayed out!
but I did get a rebuild kit and a new solenoid today so I intend to put the electric carb back on it later this week and see how it does! then I will decide which carb to run on it. I also have a non computer controled distributer from a 1979 I can put on it if I decide to do away with the computer.
