The Stonecutters Bridge continues its progress, saw the tail end of the Channel Five Megastructures TV program last week which had some good views of the Island and how the Bridge dominates it. Channel Five have not put this program on their 'On-Demand' replay site as yet.
However, if you type Stonecutters Bridge into Google Images, you can see some 4,000 images of the Bridge with the Island in the background. You can also see more pictures at http://www.stonecuttersbridge.net/en/main.htm - by the way, you do NOT need to install any IE language packs to view these pages. Go to the 'Progress' - 'Photos' page.
The bridge may look impressive, but the Island certainly does not look the place to live today!!!
Happy memories at least!!!

I watched the programme and was facinated not only with the bridge itself, but with the occasional shot of the island. If you pause in certain places it's easy to scan the island and pick out the landmarks. It's nice to know that the name Stonecutters has been retained for the bridge. Somehow think we were lucky to of had the opportunity to live on the island as it was. The santuary and beauty will never be the same again.

I see in the photo's that it opened for business at the end of December 2009. Also found some more info in a Discovery Channel programe at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTFwERMt89s. It's in 5 parts, but worth a watch.
