Now at this point some would say…”Sure, Christ is prophesied to Rule with a Scepter of Iron….but that does not mean he uses such as a weapon…”
But note again these nations of Revelation 2:26,27 are prophesied to be in a certain condition:
REVELATON 2
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
They will be like clay pots broken into SHIVERS. Hmmm…who do think will be doing the breaking? Could it be that CHRIST YEHESHUA, the one you call “JESUS”…when VIEWED through the WINDOW of PROPHECY…can be seen in possession of an IRON ROD, a SCEPTER, that he CHOOSES TO USE AS A WEAPON to break people down into submission, to tremble in fear, like clay potts broken into small pieces and shivers? By they way, when one trebles, does not one also SHIVER?
The Psalms are full of “Messianic Prophetic Psalms”…Psalms/Songs that are both about MESSIAH, and PROPHECY. One of the better known such Messianic Prophetic passages is Psalm 22, by which one can see the events of Calvary 2000 years ago, prophesied in Psalms hundreds of years prior to the event actually coming to pass.
Now lets look at another Messianic Prophetic Psalm. This one I will post in it’s entirety as it is short, 11 verses, but note it clearly depicts the scene of CHRIST YEHESHUA, the “BEGOTTON SON” of GOD, coming into his everlasting Kingdom, but it also brings to a close this reply to your position that Christ is not shown in Scripture as PERSONALLY OWNING WEAPONS…for this Psalm, clearly shows otherwise…
King James Version: Psalms Chapter 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 THOU SHALT BREAK THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THOU SHALT DASH THEM IN PIECES LIKE A POTTER’S VESSEL.”
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with TREMBLING.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
These “HEATHEN” will be broken not with words, but with a ROD OF IRON, and they shall be DASHED IN PIECES LIKE A POTTER’s VESSEL, brought
Into submission with the same scepter, and the one doing such, the OWNER
Of this “ROD of IRON”…is “THE BEGOTTON” of “THE LORD”…and he is seen by the window of Prophecy to be in possession of this same ROD before ever he was born into Human Flesh.
Revelation 12
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
And in closing, YES, not only is CHRIST shown to be the OWNER of weapons, of ARROWS (Ps 45); And the means to shoot them (Ps 45); And not only is Christ shown to UNDENIABLY be the owner of an IRON ROD which is used as a weapon, (Ps 2, Rev 2, Rev 12); NOT ONLY is CHRIST Shown in Scripture To be the Owner of a SWORD on his side by at least one passage, even if open to arugment (Ps 45); But in addition to being shown to be UNDENIABLY the personal OWNER of a WEAPON USED TO DASH THE HEATHEN INTO SHIVERS, to “BREAK THEM”…to be the OWNER OF AN IRON ROD…but yes, there is at least ONE PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE, that shows YEHESHUA, to UNDENIABLY, OWN A SWORD…
REVELATION 19
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
His very word, “A SHARP SWORD” and shall be used to “SMITE THE NATIONS.”
So then the Answer to your question: "that's nice and all, but did Jesus himself own/carry a sword?"
Is...
Yes, WITH EVERY WORD HE SPOKE!
