Hi everyone! I’m currently looking to upgrade our old electric water heater to a high-efficiency gas model. I’ve been doing some research, and it seems like a pretty complex job that involves new venting and gas line connections. My brother-in-law offered to help me do it myself to save some money, but I’m honestly a bit nervous about messing with gas lines. Plus, I’ve heard that if you don't have a proper permit and a certified professional doing the work, it could void your home insurance if something goes wrong. You are absolutely right to be cautious! Messing with gas lines is definitely not a DIY project, and your insurance company would have a field day denying a claim if a non-certified person touched it.
