Listen your friend is right about this. Graphics cards changed how they get power recently and you need a PSU that matches. I read up on

You can use adapters but why bother when you're building from scratch. Just buy current hardware that works together properly. Makes life easier and your system more stable. Don't overthink it just get the right standard from the start
