While some are still fixated on Made for TV politics and demonize whomever is wearing the wrong colors politically, lets take time to think about those that are about to be furloughed, miss some paychecks and figure out a way to survive while some shithead politicians fight for the microphone to utter some inane drivel typically heard in a 7th grade debate club.

Real people’s jobs are about to be axed. These aren’t political appointments, they’re our neighbors.

Good luck to them.

PS - Congress and all them? Still get paid.

Have a good’n,

It/Them/They

Government shut downs are somewhat like wars...those effected by loss of income have zero to do with the Government issues...

This government needs to find a way to continue pay for those who are working as well as Military..

debate the other issues separately from workers pay...

Exactly! They blame each other for not working together.

Those Good People that are legally obliged to receive back pay for the political stunts?

Well, turns out they might just get stiffed: https://www.foxnews.com/video/6382277840112

Reminder, Dondo Don Donnie John has a decades-long track record of short pay / no pay for those that have done work for him.

While these folks are floating mortgages and making promises they’ll make lending institutions whole when they receive that back pay just might be totally screwed, remember, Congress and All Them: still getting paid.

The Federal Government is a Failure.

I couldn't access the video without signing into Fox News (no thanks), but here's a direct quote from Trump when asked about back pay for furloughed employees:

"There are some people that really don't deserve to be taken care of, and we will take care of them in a different way, OK?"

Most likely illegal, but that doesn't matter to this administration. I do think this is an idle threat, not sure how they will identify those that "don't deserve to be taken care of" -- I supposed he could order Pam Bondi to find a way.

Over $4 million for LGBTQ projects in the Balkans and Uganda.
$3.6 million for cooking and dance workshops for male sex workers in Haiti.
$500,000 to purchase electric buses in Rwanda
$6 million to subsidize Palestinian media outlets
More than $833,000 for transgender training initiatives in Nepal.
$300,000 to sponsor a pride parade in Lesotho
Nearly $900,000 for mentorship and social media programs in Serbia.
$3 million for circumcision and sterilization programs in Zambia.

The Chuck Schumer shutdown of the government is an exercise in futility. Schumer fears losing his seat to AOC, one of the least qualified among many persons to ever win a seat in Congress, so he is holding out for what? To put it bluntly, AOC owns Chuckie Schumer these days and he knows it.

He is torn between the radical AOC/ Loon Squad and his determination to remain in power. Spending that would further increase our already unspeakable debt? Yup! After all, he is worth about $85 million these days. All that wealth came from his years of corruption, pimping himself to the highest bidders for decades.

AOC is allegedly worth $30 million after six years in Congress! And she knows nothing about anything!

Irrelevant comment as it relates to the MAGA Shutdown.

The longer it goes on the more people are learning the TRUE reason for the shutdown and the fact that Republican politicians are flat out lying to their constituents. I wonder what new lie they will come up with when their constituents lose their healthcare or can't afford premiums that have doubled.

Guess what... more RED states have people enrolled in ACA healthcare programs. 77 percent of these people live in states won by Trump in 2024.

Trump won 31 states so ya. Also in these states, even if the state is Red, the big cities are for the most part very Blue.

The sticking point for Senate Democrats is an insistence on taxpayer-funded health insurance for illegals something they falsely claim is not something the federal government funds. There is also the issue of extending the "extra" Obamacare tax subsidies beyond the end of 2025, when they are set to expire. That can be negotiated separately to some degree but the Democrats want to grandstand it.

Schumer would like to bend again, but the last time he did so AOC took him to the woodshed. He has made the choice this time around to appease to the loonier wing of the Democrat party in a pathetic effort to save his own musty ass. At the end of the day AOC is still going to take him down , and it will be joyous to witness.

Wally,

Your wall of sound bullshit doesn’t apply to this thread.

This is about the real people impacted by the shutdown not receiving paychecks and now it appears the current administration is going to to pick and choose those that will receive back pay in open violation of a law Trump signed in 2019.

Take your copy and paste horseshit and fill up any number of threads you created no one pays attention to.

Get a job,
MPG

Be real, boohooing about the so called real people sounds lovely, but aren't the Democrats the ones who claim to love and adore the so called little people? I mean, we expect Trump and the Nazis to not care right? Actually I am good with this game going on a while, but I believe the end is near. As a Republican I know very well about caving, because that's what Republicans do, and they probably will again. Schumers job is on the line here, do you really think he gives a rats ass about your little people?? If Chuck caves again, he may as well resign. Democrats are slime and evil, but they arent known for caving.

Hakeem just lost a big portion of butt cheek.

A military pay bill among others should be done immediately.

I agree, as do the Dems, as does Trump, but seems Mike Johnson does not. Johnson has ruled out a stand alone troops pay bill.

Everyone should get back pay... not just who Trump picks and chooses.

Meanwhile, this administration is RIFing “thousands” of cybersecurity jobs, which obviously in a pre-technical Cold War with China & Co. is the move of a stable genius.

Hey, but here’s a fun video published by none other than a most-serious person:

WTF

Yeah, that's the President of the United States sharing this AI generated video.

I'm as shocked as he is that he didn't receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

5 old hippies vote on the Nobel Peace prize, Trump should understand he has a zero chance to win that. His ego is massive, but certainly he can figure that out.

America had it wrong for the past 250 years.

Respect for the Military, Federal Employees,The Constitution, Rule of law and humankind was not making America Great.

Destroy all that and bend your knee to the sole person who will change all that and Make AMerica Great....
