I think there may only be one Democrat on here who condones what the democrats did last night in regard to those honored by Trump
I think MG may have teared up a bit when the thirteen year old cancer patient was made an honorary member of the secret service.
I think Soccer more than likely thought it was pretty awesome that a young man was awarded a position at West Point.
I think even my old rival Dee felt proud when Trump announced the mastermind of Abbey Gate bombing was on his way to justice and hopefully capital punishment here in the states.
I think all three felt compassion for the moms who lost children to illegal animals. Compassion doesn’t know party lines.
I truly believe these three good souls understand the importance to young female athletes to keep their playing field level and fair by not allowing pretend girls to infiltrate.
So in fairness, I think the extreme left who showed their asses last night may have even dented their reputation with fair minded and compassionate voters. If I’m wrong about these three I’m disappointed and somewhat sad. If they felt sitting for those recognized was appropriate or the actions of Rep Greene shaking his cane as he was booted out was not an embarrassment to the party, I would have lost money on a bet.
State of the Unions haven’t been about the country for a long time. They are an attempt by the winning side to maintain momentum, especially the first one.

Opi, I have to respectfully disagree, these same folks for 4 years sat back and watched Brandon and Kamala literally destroy our border and economy and didn’t complain or say a damn word against any of it. Today they get on here and spew their party talking points, or simply blame everything on Trump and MAGA (TDS). I have not heard any of them come on here and provide any Biden accomplishments from the past 4 years, why because there are none, zero. They were in charge for 4 years and accomplished ZERO for the American people, with the exception of an inflated economy and unsecured border. Not that it matters, but have literally no respect for any of them. Most of the time I just pass over their post. Them supporting and voting for Brandon/Kamala tells me all I need to know. Opi knows these people on the side, I think, so he both sides it a lot and tries to pacify them. In return, they tolerate him. Opi - you are fair and you are correct. We watched the first part of Trump's address intently, but at some point we muted it as one of our kids who has no fear decided he could dive from the couch to a far away chair...he did a face plant on hardwood floors.. he's fine, Mrs Soccer is great at deciding what requires an ER visit and what doesn't.
We recorded the entire speech so I'll go back and watch bits and pieces. As much as I hate the majority of what Trump does it doesn't change my humanity and the way I feel about stories like you referred to. If none of the Dems stood or clapped for those individual stories that's sad, but I can't help but wonder if the script were flipped the outcome wouldn't have been similar.

You correct I have compassion for all the families who were honored last night. I did not not agree with Democrats not standing for those honored. I do not agree with the radical element within the party.
I am fairly sure you feel the same about those on the right who are extreme.
I respect your views even when we agree to disagree.

To be fair....
I made better use of my time last night. I had to do this ugly four letter word thing.....spelled W-O-R-K .. and I'm glad I had a meeting to take the place of whatever that was last night.
Once upon a time, I would have said being lied to is a pet peeve of mine, but now I almost expect just about any narrative (from anyone) will have grains of truth and grains of embellishment. I just come to expect it anymore. As long as the goal is not to harm anyone else, I let it go, believing some degree of what people tell me and looking the rest open to another side of the story. Most people just want to make themselves look good, and as long as it it's not at someone else's expense, let them spin a tale.
Those types of people, I can still love as family and as friends as long as their lies do no real harm. Prop yourself up if you'd like, but don't knock anyone down, or I really will lose confidence and respect in people.
But I can also shield myself from the most extreme versions of dishonesty and lack of integrity that does do real harm to a nation of people, especially when the lie is TRUMPED up with the halls of Congress as a backdrop.
I just will not give into political theatrics. It's not even worth the effort of anger.
Hate, requires effort, and it requires a certain passion. Trump is not even worth hating. My ears can select better notes than those that come from his jagoff mouth.
I feel for the people that Trump propped up to support his lies, for the express purpose of manufacturing a gotcha moment for his pundits, to keep the weak minded convinced that he is legitimate. I feel for all who wasted their time, when those hours could have been spent in better pursuits.
I have too much else to be concerned about than to sit through that. Being lied to as an act of personal embellishment is one thing, manufactured theatrics to support a lie...I have better use of my time.
It won't be long that the first Republican to stop clapping for him will be marched out with the Democrats that he calls by name as traitors. Maybe he'll even learn to puff on a cigar to mimic the theatrics of one of his other heroes.
Trump likes political theatrics, and I'm glad you were entertained. Now don't you wish you had your evening back?

We've bantered for over 15 years, never knowing who the other is.
Everyone i thought could be Opinionated is no longer with us, but Opinionated still lives on.
I think the difference between Opinionated and the trolls who support Trump is that Opinionated is part of a community of posters, among whom political views are only one aspect of a person's life.
That's what real life is like for non-trolls, that people still have other things in common besides how they see things politically.
In the life of non-trolls, family members still get along, people maintain friendships, and people even have to share workspaces with people whom they disagree.
Somehow, they can do that.
It has nothing to do with Opinionated knowing the people with whom he disagrees.
It's just that (most of) the people who tend to dislike all things Trump also happen to be non-Trolls.
It's getting harder to make a case for those who see Trump as legitimate for anything to be taken seriously, but persist we must.
I understand, it's tough to shed pride and admit you made a mistake.
