We watched the first part of Trump's address intently, but at some point we muted it as one of our kids who has no fear decided he could dive from the couch to a far away chair...he did a face plant on hardwood floors.. he's fine, Mrs Soccer is great at deciding what requires an ER visit and what doesn't.

We recorded the entire speech so I'll go back and watch bits and pieces. As much as I hate the majority of what Trump does it doesn't change my humanity and the way I feel about stories like you referred to. If none of the Dems stood or clapped for those individual stories that's sad, but I can't help but wonder if the script were flipped the outcome wouldn't have been similar.
