Granite City on channel 5 today

Why should we expect better when this is what represents the city? Is it any wonder the city has the reputation that it does. This was embarrassing. All 3 of these people look like they crawled off the couch from an afternoon nap. I guess we should all just appreciate they at least had teeth in their heads! The woman in the front looked like she's never heard of a hair brush or hair style. You could barely see the one in the back, I don't even know why she was there, she never spoke a word. The mayor, who would guess that was a mayor of a city that had been invited to do a segment on a newscast? He looked like he had been caught off guard and by surprise on a day off of work out shopping at the local dollar general. Mayor, you knew you were going to be on the news doing an interview. Represent us well, clean up and put on a suit and at least try to appear professional! The lady in the front, wow wow wow, you knew you were going to be on the local news a little effort to clean yourself up would have been appreciated when you're representing an entire city!

Where are the modern-day Rosemarie Browns that can represent the city well, and that dress professional or business casual, looking clean and stylish, having pride in the way she looks. During the interview the mayor makes a statement saying we have a lot of new restaurants coming to the city, this is the first I've heard of this. During the speaking series would have been a great time to make this announcement. I'm curious now, I wonder what restaurants are coming to Granite City and when and where!

Wow.. my opinion is that was a great segment. I saw nothing wrong with any of their appearances, this was to promote a Mardi Gras event where people wear sweatshirts and dress for a fun time. If they would have been all dressed up I think it would have presented a very weird vibe. This is not a red carpet event, it's partying and promoting the city as a fun destination.

What else can you expect about your opinion. You're part of that dumbed down not giving a sh*t generation that require the very least out of people. Or in other words, a Biden supporting democrat. When you're invited onto a news set to do an interview, you can represent your city and event and dress business casual and still get your point across to the audience. I bet you think nothing of wearing your plaid pajama pants while shopping too.

I thought it went pretty well, doing interviews isn't easy. I think the mayor looked fine,,,,he maybe could have used a suit jacket but with this being a mardi gras event he didn't need a tie. The girls were typical girls of this younger generation. Young women just don't do what the woman of past generations did,,,,they just don't bother with all the make up and hair styling unless its for some selfie opportunity that will be on facebook or tic tok, they see nothing inappropriate about jeans and sweatshirts even during a tv interview. I'm a little disappointed that Brenda Whitaker wasn't part of this interview she just doesn't get the credit she should.

I did not think they looked bad for what they were
there to talk about..Mardi Gras is about causal and fun..not trim and proper.

Clothes, suits and ties and sweatshirts, I really don't care much, well not too much. Just don't make us look like low class Granite City hillbillies. And for what it's worth you can talk about farming without wearing over-alls or in this case you can talk about a yearly parade and event without dressing down to fit the all too often negative opinions about the residents of the town.

I am curious though about one thing Willie pointed out and that was the mayor mentioning all the new restaurants coming to the city. Now this gets me excited, what new places are coming? Someone needs to spill the beans. Please be something good like a Raising Cane's or something like that.

Maybe Parkinson doesn’t see himself as a walking suit. To me he rolls up his sleeves and works hard.

I’m thinking this may be that Benda minion who doesn’t know if he wants to be a council member or a park commissioner.

If he or Benda win, I’m taking up full residence at our Florida condo and selling this house before the crash.

Oops, after researching old posts Willie is a Pontoon Beach resident.. His mayor wears jeans too and he does a great job from what I see.

I don't know if he does a great job, but he keeps getting re-elected, so that's something. The mayor before him got re-elected a few times too, so there is that. These are mayors of small towns, they don't have to get all prettied up all the time, but maybe if you know you are going to be on set, that's a little different. In the end, It doesn't matter a whole lot.

There's a lot to love about Granite City, I think, but she obviously doesn't know Granite City so well.

Mike, you did good! And I forgot the other person's name and too lazy to do the dilligence to watch again......you were nervous, but did very well in giving the information needed.

3Dee -you are right-- the only thing cringe worthy was the interviewer herself, especially since I think that she thinks she was talking about Grafton and not Granite City. "so cute and quaint and I love driving through there to get to Pere Marquette" - paraphrasing, but I think she got her towns that start with "Gr" confused.
