Any other response....?

It took a SECOND GRADER to call in a police response and now two dead and six injured (at last check) in Madison, Wisconsin.

I guess it's just going to be more "Thoughts and Prayers" because God forbid we actually do anything about it.

What should be done?

This girl used a handgun I believe. Parents should be liable unless she obtained the gun illegally. Did she have a history of mental illness or violent behavior? Were the two victims targeted or was it random?

On a bright note she won’t do it again.

Law enforcement (Barnws) said that he mistakenly reported it as a student but corrected it and said it was a second grade teacher.

They reported that a second grade student called 911. Then they interviewed a second grader. I went back and found that interview, and the second grader told what she witnessed but never said she called 911. Dang news misled me again.

The media reported what they were told by law enforcement...Law in enforcement admitted that they were the ones who made the mistake and at first said it was a child..they later corrected it.

I think under the circumstance it is understandable.

More is coming out about the girl who did the shooting. She is from divorced parents and lived with her father. She had a manifesto, which I have only saw a bit of. In it she talked about not feeling her father loved her and wanting to die. She stated that suicide would go unnoticed and be boring. Apparently, she did not want to die unnoticed.

I would think she had major mental issues.

It never said how she got the gun, but did say her father has many guns and has a picture of this girl at the shooting range on his facebook.

Whoever had parental control of this girl failed miserably. They didn’t care enough to raise her right and my guess is the gun was owned by the father as he apparently had many guns.

Sad that her parents won’t grieve as much for her as the two innocent families who lost loved ones will. Sad they didn’t get her mental health care and sad she just didn’t take her own life at home. That may seem cold but she was a victim of abusive, neglectful parents. I grieve for her innocent victims.

She was in therapy at some point.

I do agree that she was the victim of parental abuse. It is sad that she made such a terrible choice.

I also pray for all the families that are suffering from her actions.

I think both parents share responsibility for this.

I'm sure some will be angry that she didn't use a rifle, and consider it a missed opportunity to preach. Her teachers said she seemed to be doing fine and although they apparently misread the situation, I see no reason to blindly blame the parents.

RIP Ryne Sandberg.
